El Día de los Muertos

Where or where has Kathi been. Well, I have been in the studio. I know, shocking isn’t it. You remember my “Tree of life” I did for the local Museum of art right? Well they asked if I would decorate a ceramic skull for the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the dead) exhibition that [...]

Tree of Life

The sculpture I made for a juried show at our Museum of Art came home today. No one bought it so now it will grace our house unless someone from Temple wants it. In case you missed it, here is a picture of it.

New Direction

Besides doing beading and making some simple items I am experimenting on a technique that is, to me, a combination of old and new. I am trying something new…and so far it is looking like it will be doing what I want it to do. As a wee little teaser here is a picture of [...]

One Busy Bee!

I am frustrated with the LChiam lettering. It is not looking right hanging from the leafy wires so now I either need to secure it to the lava rock or the edges of the base. neither way looks right to me. I have a feeling I am going to have to redo the lettering…..maybe onto [...]

This was supposed to be yesterday’s post

but the DSL gods decided differently. So, it is a “today” post instead. Yesterday was spent refining my “Roots” tree. I added highlights to the tree itself and then worked on the black lava rock it is growing out of. I also added the resin to the top of the letters. Today will be making [...]

Finally….a real post

This month the Bakersfield Museum of Art is accepting submissions for a juried show. The Theme of the show is “Roots”. How it is interpreted is up to the artist. Well one of my goals for this year has been to do more about getting my name “out there” so I thought this might be [...]
